Today’s stage continued on the Roman road from Calzailla to Mansilla. The nice part was that the road was very quiet and isolated. The downside was there were no villages or fountains for 14 miles. Still, the 2 liters of water I carried held me over until lunch in Mansilla. It was very, very quiet though – saw one biker, one tractor, and four cars passed.

The guidebook says to stop there, but I kept going so I could get to León a little quicker. I’m now 8 miles from the center of the city at a motel with an awesome pool. (Again, €25 was too good to turn down for a private room.)

I downloaded an audiobook for while I’m walking. I was looking for the cheap, public domain variety, so I’ve got David Copperfield on my phone now. I have not read Dickens in a while, but I enjoyed the first three hours today.

Not much else going on here. I hope to have more to report in León tomorrow.
