Back to Santiago

I came back to Santiago on Friday for the festival. The city was even more crowded than I expected. It makes sense though as the feast day fell on a weekend. I went to the service in the Cathedral on Friday night, and then went to grab something to eat before the “Apostolo Espectaculo.” Think 4th of July fireworks mixed with a video projection show similar to the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
Well, my timing was a little off. The ham and cheese empanada set me back enough that they closed off the Cathedral plaza before I could get there. I was almost two hours early, but the plaza was full. I had to watch the telecast from my hotel room.
Saturday was pretty uneventful. Walked around the city a lot, got caught in a Galacian independence protest, and saw a free concert.
Today was pretty slow too. I had a lot of time to kill since my flight does not take off until 10:30 PM.
