Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day!
Where am I? Itero de la Vega
How far did I walk today? 30.7 km / 19 miles

On July 4, 1776, King George III wrote in his journal, “little of importance happened today” as it would be weeks before he received the Declaration of Indepeence. After 239 years of progress, I was able to video conference with my family as they ate lunch as I was about to eat dinner. Now we only had a way to limit the heat indoors… wait, that’s just an issue in Northern Spain. (Seriously, a simple ceiling fan would do wonders!)

At the risk of sounding like George, it was a boring day. I’m still in the same routine – wake up, walk, eat, walk again, shower, do laundry, eat, write, sleep.

I’m a town ahead of most the others because I arrived at Castrojeriz before noon and did not want to sit around all day. The most excitement on the trail came when a cat emerged out of a bush in the middle of a mountain pass.

I had some nice pictures today, but the wifi is slow here, so they’ll have to wait.

So I’m going to cut off a little early today, and I hope you all have a great holiday weekend!
